A domestic violence case was recently handled by law enforcement in a suburban neighborhood of Chatham, Illinois, leaving behind a lingering sense of heartache and outrage over the complex psychology of young victims trapped in toxic relationships.

Early on the morning of August 13, the 911 dispatch received a panicked distress call from a young woman.
